The Workshop Model
I Do (Teacher owns the learning)
Every class starts with a teacher at the front who has just greeted the students as they entered. The presentation by the teacher:
- Outlines the goals for the class
- Describes the learning targets
- Overviews new material
- Presents a screencast for difficult concepts or explanations
You Do (Student owns the learning)
Students often are asked to do work individually. That they might use later in class.
We Do (Students owns the learning)
Work in teams and groups supports the goals of twenty first century education. Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Critical Thinking are all fostered by working in groups on meaningful assignments.
We Share
Every class ends with a sharing of what just happened or perhaps something more formal. The important thing is that it is facilitated by someone.
